Water User Update: September 2026
September 18, 2026

WATER SHUTDOWN
The LNID Board of Directors has set the final day of District-wide water delivery as Tuesday, October 6, 2026, subject to weather and operational constraints.
To assure water can be delivered, the District recommends that all water users have their ponds filled by September 30, 2026 and water order requests submitted well in advance to accommodate operational shutdown constraints. Water may only be available in some areas after October 6 during shutdown processes.
Contact your Water Coordinator by text message, email, or phone call to place your water order with the following information:
- Your name;
- Legal Land Description;
- on/off date;
- Preferred method of return communication (text/email/phone).
Your Water Coordinator will respond confirming they can fulfill your water order. Water orders are incomplete until confirmation from your Water Coordinator is received.
Water Coordinator Divisions and contact information can be found here.
PICTURE BUTTE RESERVOIR
LNID will be drawing down Picture Butte Reservoir below normal winter levels in 2026/2027 to accommodate dam safety and other maintenance activities. Be aware that heavy equipment will be operating on and around the dam as well as nearby canals and structures.
CELEBRATING AGRICULTURE & COMMUNITY
LNID staff were out in our communities on Saturday, August 15! Many staff took part in decorating our picker truck and walking alongside community members in the Picture Butte Jamboree Days Centennial Parade. Another LNID team set up an irrigation booth at the Farming Smarter Open Farm Days event, where families are invited to explore agricultural research, learn from organizations, and ask questions about the industry.
