Transfer of Irrigation Acres & Alternate Parcel Agreements

TRANSFER OF IRRIGATION ACRES

(Irrigation Districts Act, Section 26)

The Lethbridge Northern Irrigation District (LNID) is now accepting applications to permanent transfer of irrigation acres between parcels for the 2025 irrigation season. Applications will be accepted until February 28, 2025.

Please note the following requirements for transfers:

• Both parcels involved must be within the same Irrigation District.

• The transfer application must be signed by all parties involved.

• All transfers are subject to approval by the LNID Board of Directors.

ALTERNATE PARCEL AGREEMENTS

(Irrigation Districts Act, Section 25)

The Lethbridge Northern Irrigation District is now accepting applications for the use of irrigation on an alternate parcel in accordance with Section 25 of the Irrigation Districts Act. Applications must be submitted by March 31, 2025.

If you wish to irrigate an alternate parcel not listed on the Assessment Roll, you may apply to do so in lieu of irrigating your existing acres. To be eligible, you must be the Owner or Lessee of the alternate parcel. If the parcel is leased, the application must include the consent of the Owner.

The term of the agreement will begin on May 1, 2025, and conclude on December 31, 2025.

Water users that wish to pursue either process are asked to contact the LNID Office at 403-327-3302.

All applications will be reviewed by the Board of Directors, who will issue their decision by April 30, 2025. Applicants will be notified of the outcome shortly thereafter.
