2024 Initial Water Allocation

2024 INITIAL WATER ALLOCATION PER IRRIGATION ACRE - 8”

At the April 16, 2024 Board Meeting the Board of Directors discussed the 2024 Initial Water Allocation per irrigation acre, considering current water storage and snow pillow information. The District has been a part of several discussions with Alberta Environment & Protected Areas, various Alberta Municipalities, and other Irrigation Districts pertaining to the predicted drought conditions and limited water supply levels in the four Watershed Basins in Southern Alberta.

In consideration of the current information for the Oldman Watershed, the LNID Board has set the 2024 initial water allocation at 8” per irrigation acre.

The Board will continue to monitor the Water Supply Forecast over the course of the irrigation season, and if required amend the Water Allocation based on current information.
