LNID Water User Update: December 2025
December 17, 2025

LNID would like to provide an overall operational update.
Water Supply Update
As snow continues to fall in the mountains, LNID monitors snow pillow and District water reservoir information maintained by Alberta Environment and Protected Areas and shared weekly by the Water Infrastructure and Operations Branch (WIOB) of Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation (AGI).
Snow Pillows:
Gardiner Creek, South Racehorse Creek, and Lost Creek South snow pillows accumulations are within a normal range and currently tracking at or above measurements taken at this time last year.
Oldman Reservoir: 58% of full supply level (FSL)
Oldman Reservoir levels are within normal range for this time of year. The Oldman Reservoir has been filling as of late, however, we anticipate this to slow as temperatures return to below freezing.
Lethbridge Northern Headworks (LNH) Canal Upgrades:
AGI advised LNID that they have awarded a contract to complete LNH canal liner repairs, a groundwater drain, and a turnout, all within the last 700m before the flume over the Oldman River. Work will start in January, with more details to come.
LNID Construction & Maintenance Update
LNID staff continue to work on the Lateral A20 Pipeline Project south of Highway 519 near Granum. To date, 4.8km of pipe has been installed in the 7.7km pipeline project. The project will be completed and operational for the 2026 irrigation season.
2025 Billing Assessments
A reminder to have all invoices paid by December 31, 2025. An 8% late payment fee (recorded as 8% penalty on invoices) will be added to all outstanding invoices on January 1, 2026.
If you have any questions about any the above information, do not hesitate to contact the Office at 403-327-3302.
Happy Holidays,
LNID Board of Directors and Staff
