Application for Addition of Irrigation Acres on land with existing irrigation
Below is the application for additional Water Rights (irrigation acres).
Before filling out the form, please note the following:
No dryland applications are accepted. These applications are only for land with existing irrigation.
The Application Fee is $105.00 (including GST).
These applications will only be accepted until December 31, 2021.
Only completed applications with the corresponding Application Fee will be reviewed by LNID.
The addition of these Water Rights (irrigation acres) will be reviewed and be determined in accordance to LNID policy.
Each application will be approved or denied by March 31, 2022 and notification will be sent to the applicant.
Notification to the applicant will state any conditions for approval. The following are standard conditions that all applications must meet:
Each applicant must provide a system design for the added acres and be able to show to an LNID representative that the irrigation system is in place to irrigate the additional applied for irrigation acres.
The additional acres will be subject to meeting the Alberta Land Classification Standards for irrigation acres.
The additional acres will be subject to the capacity of LNID infrastructure.
The additional acres may require necessary changes to the infrastructure in order to add the additional Water Rights (irrigation acres) to land. All changes must be to LNID standards, and you may be required to sign an Agreement to Pay Cost for any materials, construction, engineering, system design review, inspections and right of way costs.
There may be additional conditions dependent upon the area that the Water Rights are being added
If the additional acres will be added to a system delivered from a pipeline or a canal with a maintenance surcharge, you will be assessed construction contributions and you must sign an Agreement to Pay Cost for the amount of the construction contribution.
The Board has set a limit of 310.0 total expansion acres allotted per landowner with a limited number of acres available. These additional Water Rights (irrigation acres) will be a part of the total allotted acres per landowner which will include future dryland irrigation acres when LNID begins accepting those applications.

Cash and cheques can be delivered to the LNID office during regular business hours.
Cheques can be left in the mailbox at the LNID office.
