Alberta Open Farm Days - Water, the Lifeblood of Every farm

April 3, 2025

Alberta Open Farm Days will take place August 16 & 17, 2025, across the province.

This annual event is a province-wide open house where Albertans are invited to step onto farms and experience firsthand where their food comes from. From on-farm culinary experiences to educational demonstrations, Open Farm Days highlight the vital role agriculture plays in our lives and economy.

This year’s theme, Water – the Lifeblood of Every Farm, offers a unique opportunity to showcase the critical importance of water in farming operations.

Do you offer a farm experience that could engage and inspire visitors? If so, consider becoming a host site for Alberta Open Farm Days! Applications are now open for new host farms and on-farm experiences for the 2025 event.

LNID encourages and welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with our water users on this initiative. This is your chance to highlight the value of irrigation, the work you do, and how water supports agriculture in our region. Whether it’s a tour, a display, or a hands-on activity, your participation can help educate the public, build support for irrigation, and celebrate the important role your farm plays in Alberta’s food system.

For more information on becoming a host, submitting an event, or general details about Open Farm Days, please visit their website or contact the LNID office to explore how we can support your involvement.
