  GIS Technician


The Lethbridge Northern Irrigation District is looking for an energetic, conscientious and detail oriented individual to assist our engineering department in the capacity of GIS Technician. The individual(s) will be responsible to locate and record GIS data for the LNID’s extensive irrigation network. Post processing of this data may be available as well.

Qualifications
  • Strong customer service, verbal communication abilities and focus.
  • Technical experience with geographic information systems and basic survey equipment.
  • CAD Drafting experience using Autodesk Products is an asset.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and with minimum supervision.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence.

Other Information
  • Based out of the LNID office in Lethbridge.
  • 40 hour work week, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm. Overtime may be available.
  • Duration of work is from September 2017 to December 2017. Start and end times are negotiable.
  • Wage range is $22 to $24 per hour, depending on experience.

  General Labourer


Primary Focus
  • Perform work connected with laying pipe, and maintenance and repair of infrastructure in the Irrigation District
  • Perform all duties with a high regard for safety and the environment

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Work is manual labour intensive and involves repetitive shovelling, standing, stooping, bending, squatting, walking and lifting weights up to 50 pounds (23 kg) unassisted
  • As the majority of this work is conducted outdoors, workers must be ready to work in all types of weather conditions, including inclement weather
  • Climbing in and out of trenches, walking on uneven ground, working around heavy equipment and working in confined spaces is required
  • Mowing and weed whipping of District works
  • Assist with District weed spraying program
  • Ability to work solo and as part of a crew or team
  • Capable of following instructions and able to complete work tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Achieve the correct grade by directing operators of equipment to adjust grade by moving earth, gravel and other materials
  • Have an understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance and trenches, and ability to work in and contribute to a safe work environment
  • Ensures all work is in compliance with the Company Safety Policy, Occupational Health & Safety regulations, and other environmental and operating procedures
  • Be able to identify hazards on site and respond appropriately
  • Assures an appropriate level of emergency preparedness through training, maintaining tools and equipment, and ongoing communication
  • Maintains good working relationships
  • Experience operating and maintaining equipment would be an asset
  • Should like operating hand tools and power tools
  • Other duties as required

Education and Experience
  • Proof of valid Class 5 driver’s licence and a satisfactory driving record are required if a position is offered
  • Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent
  • Good leadership, communication and organizational skills
  • Hoisting and rigging knowledge
  • Farm background would be an asset

  • Have an understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance and trenches, and ability to work in and contribute to a safe work environment

  • Be able to identify hazards on site and respond appropriately

  Gravel Truck Driver


Primary Focus

  • Capable of following instructions and able to complete work tasks efficiently and effectively
